FLEA TREATMENT

  Front Line Packs

The easiest way to keep on top of fleas is to use a routine treatment programme to prevent the unpleasant problem of a flea infestation.

Mobile Pet Services recommends the use of Frontline Spot On and sprays, regular use will kill adult fleas and ticks within 48 hours.

Frontline Spot On contains Fipronil, the only phenylpyrazole ectoparasiticide available for animal health use. Fipronil acts on receptors in the central nervous system of insects causing death due to hyper excitation of motor neurons.

Unlike systemic flea control products, Frontline Spot On kills fleas on contact, without requiring the flea to bite.

Technical stuff, Hey...

  Flea Egg

Every cat and dog is vulnerable to flea and tick attacks at some time in their life. Nearly 1 in 10 dogs and 1 in 5 cats show signs of flea activity, many owners are unaware of the problem.

Part your pet's fur around the neck or base of the tail, looking for fast moving dark brown parasites approximately 2-3mm long. Fleas can be hard to spot, so the best way is to look for flea dirt - small black specks in the pet's coat, which consist of dried blood excreted by the fleas as they feed.

If no fleas or flea dirt are seen, and your pet is scratching or losing hair, we recommend you seek help from your local veterinary practice.

Flea life cycle

  • Adult fleas jump onto the pet.

  • Fleas take a blood feed and lay eggs.

  • Eggs fall off after 2-5 days onto carpet etc...

  • Larvae hatch out from eggs.

  • Larvae hide from light under furniture etc...

  • 7-14 days later pupate in a protective cocoon.

  • Pupae can rest for up to a year in your house.

  • Warmth, vibration and carbon dioxide trigger hatching.

  • Adult fleas jump onto pet again.
